Round Top, Texas, is a haven for treasure hunters — a siren call for shoppers ready to put in a bit of work to locate truly one-of-a-kind finds. And, with its unique mix of original artwork, antiques and hard-to-find collectibles, Round Top Vintage Market offers something for every treasure-seeker who enters its doors.

Headed up by Barbara Griffin, the “smaller red barn,” — not to be confused with another well-known venue, the Big Red Barn — boasts 13,000 square feet of air-conditioned space where visitors can explore to their heart’s content.

The space got its start with Emma Lee Turney, one of the pioneers behind the Round Top Antiques Show. It was fall of 2013 when Griffin took over the building, spotting the potential for real opportunity.

“The building was basically an empty shell when we acquired it, and it wasn’t a weekend venue,” she explained. “But a lot of the longtime dealers stayed with us, and over time we worked to grow the business.”

And grow, it did.

Today, the popular shop is open weekends year-round, and it’s filled with a mix of old and new. Seasonal décor shares space with long-loved antique furniture, vintage ads mix blend with brand-new clothing.

“It’s a work in progress, but things always are,” Griffin said, noting that she’s enjoyed the journey.

The shop owner said she’s proud to be part of an ever-growing Round Top. With year-round venues continuing to enter the mix, along with fun new places to stay, the town has become a destination.

“Round Top is the Sedona of Texas,” she said. “It’s an artful place where people can relax and re-energize. I love being part of the community.”

Round Top Vintage Market is open year-round on weekends — 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
