Kick Off Your Boots: Round Top’s Outdoor Spaces are Worth the Trip

May 16, 2019 | Round Top Dining , Round Top FYI , Round Top Lodging , Round Top Shopping

The warm weather has returned to Texas, and folks are starting to venture outside to enjoy that sweet spot between the winter chill and the sometimes-brutal heat of a southern summer. This is a great time to explore all the charming outdoor spaces Round Top has to offer. No matter what kind of down time you’re looking to enjoy, Round Top has a spot with your name on it.

Round Top’s Squares

If Round Top was a beautifully set table, our three squares would be the centerpieces. There’s something for everyone looking to soak up some rays this spring in these havens of shopping, dining and art.

Henkel Square – The largest of the three, Henkel is an obvious choice for those wanting to enjoy the beautiful springtime weather at the large picnic tables in the center of the square (there are umbrellas too, for when you’ve had enough Vitamin D). And if you feel like you never want to leave, you may not have to – enjoy a cup of coffee at Two Sparrows Roasting Co.’s outdoor seating area, or pop over to grab a pie at Royers Pie Haven. Satisfy the shopping bug by stopping in to the Silver Barn or Indian Creek for home décor and unique gifts.

Bybee Square – Bybee is a more peaceful outdoor getaway for those who want good eats, even better wine and a taste of some of Round Top’s artistic culture. Enjoy a glass of wine from Lulu’s out in the sunshine, and make your way over to The Gallery at Round Top to experience some of the local art scene.

Rummel Square – The sophisticated older sister of Henkel and Bybee, Rummel provides natural shade with large trees, and a tranquil experience on the back patio of The Garden Company Feed and Firewater. When you’ve had your fill of delicious farm-to-table food, head across the street to Prost Wine Bar for their worldly wines and casual patio views.

Porch Life

There’s nothing more Texas than sipping a cool drink on a front porch in the middle of a hot day. Luckily for us, Round Top happens to have all three of those things in abundance.

Over at Mandito’s, you can look out over downtown Round Top while enjoying an ice-cold margarita. When you’re ready to get your dancing boots on, The Stone Cellar is waiting for you – they offer a Texas-themed pub experience with great food, craft beers on tap and live music in a semi-outdoor space.

Have you shopped till you’ve dropped? Even our local shopping has places to kick back and relax. Old Glory Antiques has a spacious and airy front porch that matches the rustic yet sophisticated vibe of their antiques. And if you’re in town for longer than a day, there are countless lodging options in Round Top where you can spend the evening watching the sun set on the porch, before a peaceful night of rest in the countryside.

There’s no shortage of Southern hospitality or beautiful weather in Round Top. You’re always welcome on our front porch.
