Round Top Area Chamber of Commerce Spotlight: The Frenchie Guest Houses

Aug 27, 2020 | Round Top FYI , Round Top Lodging

In a small town in the Texas countryside, The Frenchie Guest Houses has made a name for itself by standing out. A remodeled and reimagined 19th-century farmhouse that was restored by owners Katy Bader and Kristin Light, The Frenchie is anything but plain country chic. The space inside is eclectic, colorful and a blend of new and old, full of oversized custom pillows, European antiques and mid-century modern furniture. Its obsessive attention to detail to both design and comfort makes it a favorite for out of towners who are seeking a true luxury experience.

The Frenchie began when Katy and Kristin discovered Round Top in the spring of 2017. They happened on the property while working at Bader Ranch, Katy’s European antiques venue, during the twice-annual Antiques Shows. Deciding not to bind themselves to any design rules, they focused on making the interior as elegant and fun as possible, with the turquoise front door the only hint of what’s to come when you step inside.

“Our style sets us apart,” says Manager Aimee Kraemer. “And the community style of the house makes everyone feel welcome.” “We chose everything for a specific place and a specific purpose,” added Katy.

The Frenchie, like every business in Round Top, has also felt the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. As the world slowly opens back up, they’re sure to disinfect all common areas daily, and each room in between stays. Future guests can look forward to the addition of a pool for cooling off in the summertime, and a hot spa for the winter months.

The Frenchie’s ultimate goal is to be an enchanting escape for people visiting an enchanting place. “I love the feeling Round Top gives you,” says Katy. “The charm of the small town and the genuine people that live here make me feel at home and excited all at the same time. I laugh more when I’m in Round Top and I sleep better when I’m in Round Top.”
